THE HISTORY OF SAPTRISHI ASHRAM AND ITS IMPORTANCE

(Verified by Vedas, Shastras, Puranas and other holy books)

Like various other sacred places mentioned in holy Puranas SAPTRISHI ASHRAM of haridwar was lost in memories, but due to some senior aged saints and local people it is still called  SAPTSAROVAR but none of them could remember or recite the history of saptsarovar and thus did not know the importance of this ancient sacred ashram.

Knowing the status of saptrishi ashram and its importance the president of Santam Dharma Pratrinidhi Sabha late shri GOSWAMI GANESH DUTT JI MAHARAJ stepped forward and researched thoroughly about the ashram in Shastras, Vedas, Puranas and finally was convinced that the holy place of saptrishis was this spot .He decided to renovate it and thus got approval of the Santam dharma Sabha. Then after lot of research the history of the ashram was written. The construction work was started on the banks of holy Ganga. Santam dharma Sabha spent lakhs of rupees to construct it. Finally it was inaugurated by the first president of India late shri Dr. Rajender Prasad ji. Till today the saptrishi ashram is considered a must visit holy place of Haridwar. Everyone visiting haridwar should visit the saptrishi ashram. Taking bath and darshan of this holy place is considered very holy by Puranas also.

IMPORTANT WORKS DONE BY THE RECEIVED DONATIONS

1. FREE FOOD FOR SAINTS, STUDENTS OF GURUKUL AND WORKERS OF ASHRAM AND GUESTS .APPROXIMATELY 250 PERSONS.

2. APPROXIMATE 60 COWS, BUFFALOS AND CALVES ARE TAKEN CARE OFF.

3. FREE MEDICAL DISPENSERY FOR STUDENTS, VILLAGERS AND SADHUS AND WORKERS OF ASHRAM.

4. TO MAINTAIN 40 COTTAGES, PRAYER HALL, GUEST HALL AND PAYMENT OF ELECTRIC BILLS ETC.

5.300 STUDENTS FROM INDIA AND OVERSEAS GET FREE EDUCATION UPTIL “ACHARYA” LEVEL.THE SCHOOL IS RECOGNISED BY “KASHI UNIVERSITY”. 100 STUDENTS ARE PROVIDED FREE FOOD, STAY, EDUCATION AND CLOTHES.

6. FOR DIP IN HOLY GANGA GOSWAMI GANESHDUTT GHAT HAS BEEN BUILT BY THE ASHRAM.
